I love Jack Ma. Especially how he’s overcome failure to gain great success.
He wasn’t a coder but launched and executed a hugely successful internet company. He wasn’t even that strong in finance. Now he’s a billionaire.
Don’t get caught in the trap of thinking you need to know everything.
So what do you need to know to be successful? Be a master of your craft on a few things but have an appreciation of knowing what you don’t know.
And here are 3 simple ideas on how to fill the gaps:
- Find and attract smart people to compensate for your shortcomings or limits – You’re going to be in situations that exceed your skills. But not having these skills can put your business at risk.
- Watch YouTube videos to increase your knowledge base – YouTube has everything you would ever need. Chances are, any obscure knowledge you crave is on there.
- Get great freelancers on UpWork or a similar community. – I met a close business partner on eLance a few years ago. High quality people with diverse backgrounds on there.
I wish I knew #1 early in my journey.
